In the event of the motorcycle tipping over or a fall, the axle protection pads ensure that the swing arm, wheel axle, chain sprocket and brake system are effectively protected against damage.

The protection pads distance these components during point contact or sliding contact with the ground or road surface, reducing or preventing expensive damage to the motorcycle. In addition to the choice of material, we have structurally integrated two essential, specific properties and tested them in racing: damping and friction behaviour during the sliding phase.

Damping: The first positive property is damping, which can fully or partially absorb part of the impact energy when sudden forces occur.

The second positive property concerns the friction behaviour of the axle protection pads. Due to the special component geometry, the effective contact or sliding surface increases progressively as the load increases. As a result, the protection pad initially offers a comparatively low frictional torque during light contact, while more energy is dissipated during prolonged sliding contact with the road surface. This can help reduce the duration of the sliding phase and the motorcycle’s sliding distance.
